QotD: Cinco de Mayo

Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo?

Despite that I'm Mexican born and am clearly more entitled to the celebration even moreso than non-Mexicans, no. 

In fact, you'll be surprised to find out that most non-US born Mexicans don't celebrate it. September 16th, Mexican Independence Day, is when we find it more reasonable to get completely shitfaced and find ourselves passed out, face down in the guacamole. 

By the way, i'll give you a Dos Equis, a chal, sombrero and a fake furry mustache to further enhance your celebration if YOU can tell me what exactly, besides free Coronas at the Rusty Burro, is the reason behind the pachanga that is Cinco de Mayo.
