Vox Fitness Challenge: round 2

Comments

The next challenge I'd set for myself was to get to a certain point by my burthday, June 4. The two months after that will be very sketchy, time-wise, and emotion-wise. But I enjoy being part of the group, so I'll want to continue on, focusing on getting stronger and more fit now that I'm nearly back to the right size.

Ugh... All I can think of are excuses, when the truth is the second things didn't work out as I planned (I.E, my son not sleeping through the night) I totally gave up.

I'll have to think about round two. Honestly, my first thought is, "I don't know that I want to commit to anything unless the boy is sleeping through the night." Oh, look, giving myself an out before I've even started. :( I'm such a poop head.

I really want to keep going to round two! Mainly because I see my weight loss and fitness pledge as an ongoing journey so I'll be doing it regardless of whether I've signed up to a 12 week challenge or not, but also because I love the feedback and support here!

Unfortunately my back is still buggered so it might take me a while before I can start wowing people with my dazzling workouts! But getting my back better in the meantime is a part of fitness right? ;-)

Definitely!!!! I wasted an entire year not fully understanding this. I thought it was keeping me from getting fit, when not getting fit was keeping it from getting better. I mean, each case is not the same, but that is how it has turned out for me.
count me in too, foxsy!!! you know I can't get enough of your motivational posts and plus - with the PT on my side - maybe we'll see huge results in the next 12 weeks!

Oooh I want to be in on this! I need some motivation to get my abs and thighs in good-lookin gear! Mostly my abs...those stubborn little muscles. And I just want to be a tad bit healthier.
Yes please, I found out about round 1 too late- and Im keen to join this time. Im very into keeping fit, but am struggling a bit for motivation at the moment, so keeping myself accountable to a plan and weekly check ins would be helpful I think..

You aren't a poop head! :)

Perhaps you to need, first, to give yourself a break....and establish minimums for yourself. I know you want to do all these things and be ambitious but sometimes we need to give ourselves a break and just do something to be active and do it consistently. Maybe that minimum would involve exercising with housework (one of Lavender's tricks...and mine, too) and/or getting the kids in the stroller and going for a walk. There are lot of options that keep us active, even if they aren't our first choices or our ideal, perfect world, choices......but they are real world choices.......and they will make you feel better about doing something rather than feeling guilty about what you aren't doing. And once, Jobo starts sleeping throught the night, your world will open up to doing more (hopefully!).

You can do it!!! :)

Hello NerdyGirl! Welcome! :)

I just wanted to confirm that you have done your reading up via the links? And you have seen my latest post about round 2?

Hi RachJ! Welcome! :)

I just wanted to confirm that you have done your reading up via the links? And you have seen my latest post about round 2?

I sure have! Count me in!
same for me :)
Dee, I'd like to do this this time around; I will start on Monday, 5/12. I am going to use measurements. Let me know exactly what I need to do (I think I am supposed to join a group or something...?) so that I can get started.

Thanks!

really? wow! excellent! I am excited to have you on board!! :)

I will send you a group invite because its a private group (so everyone feels comfy about sharing). There is a post I put up on the group page yesterday that has the instructions to get started for round two. And if you have any other questions, please just ask!

I have two questions. I noticed that when I post to group, it has my post as "hidden" - is that just so it doesn't show up publicly in my blog, BUT anyone in this group can see it?

Secondly, I have a friend here, becknits, who I've been fitness buddies with for several years via email - can we send her an invite? I think she might be interested.

If you hit the "post to group" button (in the group), it automatically adjusts your post settings to private with a copy to the group. This means your neighbourhood cannot see it but the group can. These settings are easily changed if you want to make it totally public (viewable by anyone) or for your neighbourhood. Just go to bottom of post (in edit mode) and change viewing settings. And always make sure that comments are enabled in groups and that the group is always copied.

You can also start a post from the "create" button on your top nav bar and do all the settings yourself manually.....just remember to copy the group and enable comments.

Some people only want their posts to appear in the group (for privacy) and some people want to include their whole neighbourhood in their journey.....so make your settings to whichever you are comfortable with. Here are some other things to know about posting to groups.

As far as becknits goes, it would be fabulous to have a friend of yours come on board!!!! :) I would recommend sending her a copy of this post (that we are on)...or this post.....or this post.....(use the "share" button at the top of each post or link to one in a PM to her)...to see if she is interested....and if she is, then she can let me know and then I can send her an invite to the group. In round one we had a lot of looky-loos who did nothing so I really want people to read all about what the group is about and make the joining decision before getting them into the group...which is private for a reason. This second round group is much smaller....but is more committed.....so it should be a great 12 weeks! :)

[this is good]

I just saw this group, thanks to your comment to CupCate. I am a late comer but would like to join if I can still...

I have fallen off the "fitness wagon" and really want to get going again. I have not done this as a group and think it might be helpful. I had lost more than 90 pounds in the past- but because I stopped doing what had been working- I regained 25. Can't wait to feel amazing again!
